This month's meeting will be February 16th at 7pm in Keith Phillip's hangar.
Dan Martinez from Propel Aviation will be here talking about the Aviat Husky Aircraft. Dan will share information on the Husky's beginnings as well as its very capable backcountry performance. Dan will also speak about the services that Propel can offer out of their Miami base.
After the break Lee Blankenship from will be talking to us about aircraft insurance. Lee owns Lima Bravo Aviation and insures a number of people in our chapter. Lee has worked with specialized groups--such as the SX300 group--to work out special pricing on insurance.
Finally, I have included information on the next two volunteer opportunities. The chapter would really appreciate any help that you can give us at either of these activities.
--- Reigns School Visit - YoungEagles Day - 2/17/17 ---
Larry Rubin--our young eagles coordinator--has arranged for approximately 35 students from Reigns School to visit Chapter 288 on Friday February 17th. Larry is looking to take the Young Eagles program a little farther than normal. He is coordinating sort of an aerospace career day with flights for those students who wish--and have parents permission--to participate in the Young Eagles program.
The program will start at 10am and be hosted in Keith Phillips' hangar and should last about an hour and half (not including flights for kids who are participating in the flight activity).
We currently need volunteers for setup, to speak about their aviation career/experience, and pilots to fly the students who are participating in the Young Eagles portion of the event.
--- Ford Trip-Motor to Visit 288 - 3/17/17 ---
Oshkosh has asked the Chapter to host the Ford-Tri Motor in the month of March. This has usually been a winning event for both Oshkosh and Chapter 288. In the past it we have raised upward of $1,500 for the chapter.
The event will start on 3/16 as a media day, rides will start on 3/17 and end 3/19. We will need 3 or 4 per shift to cover line operations and assist in passenger loading and unloading, and we will have 6 shifts. [ As a bonus -- though not guaranteed -- volunteers can usually ride in unsold seats ]
