In place of holding a regular meeting for the month of November, EAA Chapter 288 is going to be holding a night of tribute to the veterans who served in World War II. We will be having a barbecue dinner, and there will be many WWII era airplanes on static display, as well as a formation fly-by. This event will be on the same day as our meeting would be, Thursday, November 21.
Tickets for the barbecue are $15 and can be purchased from Melissa Wilson, Bud Harter, Bonnie Powell, Alan Norris, and Matt Simmons. Tickets are available to EAA members, WOW members, and their guests. There are only 200 tickets available, and they will be sold on a first come first serve basis.
A schedule for the evening is as follows:
2:00 PM - static display airplanes should be in place
4:00 PM - arrivals and displays open in Conrad Yelvington's hangar
4:30 PM - formation fly-by
5:30 PM - wine & beer social in the Phillips' hangar
6:00 PM - BBQ served
6:45 PM - program begins - interviews with vets
8:00 PM (approx) - adjourn
8:15 PM - Nov issue of EAA Chapters video to be shown in Phillip's hangar
As this is a larger event than our normal chapter meetings, we need volunteers to help make it happen. Volunteers with golf carts are needed to escort WWII vets and their guests. Volunteers are also need to help setup and serve the food, as well as clean up afterwards. If you would like to volunteer please contact Deb Mars. We appreciate your help greatly. Set up for the event will begin at 10:00 AM Thursday morning, and as always cleanup will be at 9:00 AM Friday morning.
If there are any questions, feel free to contact any of the members who are selling tickets. Thanks, and we'll see you next week!
